Kelly Walker Edwards is the author of eight books, including the five-star-reviewed memoir Now Is the Acceptable Time. She is a native of Asbury Park, New Jersey, with a career background in corporate communications and technology education.
An avid reader since childhood, Kelly began her writing career to honor the life and legacy of her beloved grandmother, Hazel Walker — born in Virginia, a Harlem resident during the Renaissance, who later settled in Asbury Park after a summer job as a domestic at the shore.
Now retired, Kelly devotes her time to writing stories that matter — including her Narrative Nips® volumes of short stories, poems and prose — to reading, and to activities with family and friends. Her most recent memoir is Joy Is Not Always Joyful, a personal account of her paternal family. Her latest book is Narrative Nips, Volume Six.
Not corrections to anyone in particular — these are simply the five details worth a second look.
Narrative Nips® is registered, not pending.
Please set it with the ® symbol — it is a registered United States trademark, not a pending one, so the unregistered-trademark symbol is incorrect. The company is Narrative Nips® LLC.
The Narrative Nips® volumes are AI-narrated.
Their audiobook editions use Amazon’s AI narration format, so please do not credit that narration to Kelly.
She is an Asbury Park native, not a current resident.
She was born and raised in Asbury Park and writes about it constantly, but makes her home elsewhere in New Jersey today. “Asbury Park native” is always correct.
Book club visits are virtual, and selective.
She joins reading groups by video and accepts a limited number. Please do not announce any appearance that has not been arranged with her directly.
Stories Matter!!! — three exclamation marks.
It is her own styling and it is deliberate. Not one, not two, and not an ellipsis.
Cleared for editorial use with credit to Narrative Nips® LLC. Sizes are listed honestly. The headshot prints to about five by seven inches and every cover to about three by five. Larger originals are available on request: email narrativenips@gmail.com and say what you need and by when.
